[vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading]ICANN62, 25-28 June[/vc_custom_heading][vc_column_text]ICANN 62 Policy Forum was the 2nd meeting of the year, the shortest of the three annual meetings and focused on current policy development work, outreach, and daily opportunities to network with the community.
Highlights included:
2018 Multistakeholder Ethos Award recognised the community efforts of the late Stéphane Van Gelder.
GDPR was the hot topic and the recent Temporary Specification approved by the ICANN Board. Discussions focused on the ICANN-proposed Unified Access Model and the GNSO’s approach to the first Expedited Policy Development Process.
GNSO Subsequent Procedures PDP Working Group met and finalised their Initial Report which has now been issued for Public Comment.
Cross-community sessions debated the use and treatment of geographic terms at the top-level.
A year after the Independent Review Panel, the .amazon application remains in limbo but governments’ response to Amazon’s proposals anticipated soon.
