Highlights of GDD Industry Summit 2019

GDPR/EPDP was a key focal point for the audience along with discussions to improve communications between ICANN/GDD and the contracted parties.  The brand tracks, organised by the BRG, included “.Brand Registry Operations: Business Continuity & Resilience” and was led by Jason Loyer from Neustar, with support from Dietmar Lenden, Valideus. The second session was split into three topics, the first of which saw Cole Quinn sharing his knowledge and experience of integrating a .brand into a  global domain portfolio. Peter LeMantia then led a topic on how to keep a .brand secure, with support from Sarah Langstone, Verisign. Martin Sutton then presented the final topic, focused on how to use a .brand for services in China.

Innovation in gTLDs was a session led by Jothan Frakes from the DNA, which included a variety of interesting use cases, including Google’s use of their gTLD, .new.  By creating action-orientated domains, users can quickly go to new google doc to begin their next activity (e.g. docs.new). Other topics included RSEP Improvementsand Registry Lock Standardisation.

The GDD Summit continues to provide the opportunity to bring together contracted parties to discuss issues, especially more practical, operational concerns and ideas, that would otherwise not be achievable at the regular ICANN meetings.  Recordings of all the sessions are available on theICANN website.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row row_height_percent=”0″ override_padding=”yes” h_padding=”2″ top_padding=”4″ bottom_padding=”3″ overlay_alpha=”50″ gutter_size=”3″ column_width_percent=”100″ shift_y=”0″ z_index=”0″][vc_column column_width_percent=”100″ overlay_alpha=”50″ gutter_size=”3″ medium_width=”0″ mobile_width=”0″ shift_x=”0″ shift_y=”0″ shift_y_down=”0″ z_index=”0″ width=”1/1″][vc_row_inner row_inner_height_percent=”0″ overlay_alpha=”50″ gutter_size=”4″ shift_y=”0″][vc_column_inner column_width_percent=”100″ gutter_size=”3″ overlay_alpha=”50″ medium_width=”0″ mobile_width=”0″ shift_x=”0″ shift_y=”0″ shift_y_down=”0″ z_index=”0″ width=”1/1″][vc_single_image media=”68963″ media_lightbox=”yes” media_width_percent=”100″][vc_separator sep_color=”color-526867″][vc_custom_heading text_height=”fontheight-357766″ text_space=”fontspace-781688″ text_weight=”300″ text_color=”color-wvjs”][/vc_custom_heading][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row]
